FAQ’S

Solar Electricity Solution

1. What is a Solar Rooftop System?

Ans: In a solar rooftop system, the solar panels are installed in the roof of any residential, commercial, institutional and industrial buildings. This can be of two types (i) Solar Rooftop System with storage facility using battery. (ii) Grid Connected Solar Rooftop System. (iii) Hybrid Solar Rooftop System (Grid Connected along with Battery Storage).

2. What is a Grid Connected Solar Rooftop System?

Ans: In Grid connected Solar Rooftop PV system the DC power generated from SPV panel is converted to AC power using power conditioning unit (Inverter). Generated Power by this system during the day time is utilized fully for powering loads and excess power is fed to the Grid. Grid connected Solar Rooftop system is operational so long as grid is available. In case, where solar power is not sufficient due to cloud cover, night time, etc., the loads are served by drawing power from the grid. The Grid is act as storage facility in this system.

3. How Do We Generate Electricity From The Sun?

Ans: Solar energy systems work when sunlight hits a solar photovoltaic module (solar panel or PV panel) and causes electric current to flow. The current produced from the PV panels is controlled and regulated by an inverter, which converts direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC), needed for use by household appliances.

4. What is a Solar Rooftop System with Storage facility?

Ans: Such rooftop system has battery as storage facility. The solar electricity is stored in the battery and can be utilized during night also when the sun is not available.

5. How much roof area is required to set up the grid connected rooftop solar system?

6. Is there any need to take permission from Electricity Supply Utility to install solar power plant?

Ans: For Grid Connected Solar Power Plant there is detailed process followed as per Electricity Supply Utility’s Rules and Regulation for installation and commissioning of a Grid Connected Solar Power Plant. There is no permission required for installing Off Grid Solar System.

7. When do the batteries come into the picture while installing solar?

Ans: If you are going for an off grid solar solution, solar batteries are one of the crucial components as they allow you to store the electricity generated by the solar plant and use it in case of power outages or in case of no mains. A good battery would be the one which gives long back up and requires very less maintenance.

8. Does solar power work at night?

Ans: Solar Panels require direct sunlight to produce power. So do solar panels work at night? No, but there are ways to get the power you need from the solar panels at night. Batteries are a great way to cover your power when the sun is not shining.

9.How much do solar panels cost?

Ans: The price of solar power has dropped drastically over the past decade. Cost really depends on a lot of factors such as brand, Roof, Structure, type, and other things. To get a better good idea on cost, please check out some of our specific solar panels.(India mart link)

10.What is the lifespan of solar panels?

Ans: Most solar panels have a lifespan of 25 to 30 years. Their efficiency typically degrades over time, but modern panels are designed to maintain high performance for an extended period.

11.How much maintenance do solar panels require?

Ans:Solar panels are relatively low-maintenance. Regular cleaning to remove dirt and debris, as well as occasional checks on the system's wiring and components, are usually sufficient.

12.Do solar panels work on cloudy days?

Ans: Yes, solar panels work on cloudy days or when the sun isn't shining as bright. Power output can be slightly reduced, but the solar panels should still be able to meet your power needs.

14. Are there government incentives for installing solar panels?

Ans: Many governments offer incentives, tax credits, or rebates to encourage the installation of solar panels. These incentives can significantly reduce the upfront cost of a solar energy system.
