Solar Bi-Directional electricity solution is also know as solar hybrid electricity solution.
The basic working of Solar Bi-Directional system is the same as the “Solar Off-Grid Electricity solution”. i.e. the load is powered using a perfect combination of solar panels, batteries, and grid electricity.
The major difference between the systems is that, in the bi-directional system, if the load is lower than the solar electricity generation and if the batteries are full, then this solar system will export electricity to the grid.
Solar Bi-Directional system is the perfect combination of solar grid-tied system and solar off-grid system.
The complete working of solar bi-directional (hybrid) system can be shown as follows:
Condition 1: If solar energy is sufficient, then both load and battery can be charged using the electricity generated from solar energy.
Condition 2: When solar energy is not sufficient (in case of low sunlight/evening time etc), then the load is operated using the combination of solar energy and battery power.
Condition 3: If the combination of solar energy and battery power is not sufficient for the load requirements, then the bi-directional hybrid inverter will take part of energy (electricity) from GRID. Hence the load is operated using the combination of solar + battery + GRID electricity.
Condition 4: If solar energy is more than the battery and load requirements, then the excess solar electricity can be exported to the GRID for profit.
Condition 5: In the absence of solar energy (like night time, heavy rains, bad weather, etc), the load is operated using the electricity from batteries and GRID.
