Open Access Solar lets you source solar electricity from an off-site solar plant through the existing distants power grid—helping you explore lower energy costs without installing panels on your factory roof.

Own a share in a solar plant. Power your business with it.
This arrangement may help you avoid extra electricity charges, depending on the applicable rules.
Large corporate industrial power consumers and continuous process plants with sanctioned demand of 1 MW or higher.
Hold at least 26% ownership in the generating company.
Use at least 51% of the electricity generated annually, as required under captive power rules.
Reduce electricity costs through applicable surcharge exemptions and solar power procurement.
When solar electricity travels from a solar plant to your factory through the electricity grid, certain charges may apply. These charges are regulated by the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) in Maharashtra and affect the final cost of the electricity you receive.
| Charge Name | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Wheeling Charges | The cost of using the local electricity distribution network to deliver power to your factory. |
| Transmission Charges | The cost of transporting electricity through the high-voltage grid. |
| Cross-Subsidy Surcharge (CSS) | An extra charge for buying electricity through Open Access. Captive solar projects may not have to pay this charge if they meet the required rules. |
| Banking Charges | Charges or adjustments that may apply when excess solar electricity is supplied to the grid and used later, subject to applicable rules. |
